Prayer Letter – September 2007 Dear Friends,
As you know, Teresa led a two week ministry trip into Serbia and Bulgaria in June/July. We put together some of the pictures from that trip into short video clips and would love to share them with you. Please go to: http://www.kmission.org/var/videos.htm. Choose from amongst 4 clips.
SUPPORT RAISING TRIP
Viktor will be traveling to Northern California October 4-7 for support raising purposes. In the last three months of our US furlough, we will be focusing on trying to share our work with possible new ministry supporters. At this point we have raised 50% of our needed monthly budget. So, if you could please be in prayer: we are hoping to find 25 new supporters who would commit to our monthly support. If you know of anyone who would be interested in talking to us and hearing about our work in Bulgaria and Eastern Europe, drop us a line.
VIKTOR'S STUDIES
It's crunch time - Viktor is trying to get a rough draft of his thesis ready to turn in to his mentor by the end of October. He plans on buckling down and faithfully spending 8 hour days in the library until then! If he stays on schedule, he should be turning in his final draft and defending his thesis in December. Please pray for this writing process and ability to finish all tasks on time.
AIRPLANE TICKETS
We bought our airplane tickets for our return trip! We will head back to Bulgaria on January 15th! Our one year study furlough is coming to a close. We plan on enjoying our last three months in the US and spending time receiving more of God's heart and vision for the work that He has ahead for us to complete. As the time approaches, our excitement increases! Please pray that we hear from God clearly in regards to our work in Bulgaria and the changes that lie ahead.
THE CHANGES THAT LIE AHEAD
Some of you may know that we've spent the last 9 months thinking and praying about moving from Sofia (the capital of Bulgaria) to Vidin, a city three hours away along the Danube River. Well, it's going to happen! We plan on waiting until the end of winter before making the move - and then, watch out Vidin!
God is pressing into our hearts to work more hands-on with the small church in Vidin and the discipleship group there. We have a desire to build up the disciples and encourage them in mission work, both to other cities within the nation of Bulgaria and into the surrounding nations: Serbia, Romania, Macedonia. We also see a trend of difficulty for our youth workers to enter and work in the state-run orphanages. More and more, the doors are closing to Christian workers.
This is quite alarming at first glance, but for those of us that know the workings of God - we simply open our eyes wide and look around to see what new way He would have us access these youth's hearts. God loves the orphaned and abandoned youth of Bulgaria and no new director hostile to Christians or new regulations can keep His love from them.
So, the new angle is this: we hope to open a "club" in the city's center. Open it up for evangelistic projects with the city's youth and for a safe place to fellowship and work with the orphans from the state-run orphanage. It will be on our time and in our place. Oh, we can't wait to get started. In addition to this, it seems that God is finally moving us into helping the orphan kids transition out of institutional life and into society. The past two years we've worked with one youth, Biser, transition into normal life. In June a young lady, Rosa, joined him and the community in Vidin. Altan, a third youth, is the latest addition. We believe God is answering the cry of our hearts from 6 years ago - to help give these kids a chance at a full life with Jesus as their best friend. Please pray for these young adults.
Faithfully in Christ, Viktor, Teresa and the boys _________________________________ Thanks to all of you who pray for us and our ministry. To make a donation visit this web page: http://www.kmission.org/support_us.htm
